Moroccan Wedding

I went to a Moroccan Wedding today and there we're some twist and turns, but finally it wasn't quite what I expected.

First we we're a bit late, bit earlier then most people anyways. The thing is that made the party a bit dull is, that men and women aren't allowed to see each other so the venue is separated in 2 parts, namely one for men and one for women. Only the groom is allowed at the women's venue, where he spent most of his time also.

So there I am sitting in the men's part, without a girl or woman in sight, with my brother. We don't know any of these people and we were the only non-moroccan people there. At first it was kinda awkward us two sitting by ourselves.

After about an hour one of the family members came to us, in a rude way I might add, and told us we don't belong here and what are we doing here. After a brief rude explanation he went to verify that we were invited and we stayed.

When the food was about to arrive they asked my brother and I to sit at a different table, cuz the food was going to be too much for only the two of us at that table.
We went to join the teen table made sum friends and enjoyed it there.

The food came!! They came with one big plate full of cous-cous and 5 big pieces of chicken for us, 10 people at the table, to share from that plate. At first me and my brother were staring waiting to see what would happen and finally everyone just digged in and so did we.
One plate down next plate came with big pieces of bread used to grab the chunks of cow meat and eat them, it was a mighty plate that nobody finished.
And as last a plate with fruit to let it all go down.

Afterwards we stayed and talked and learned sum facts about moroccans and their customs, was funny and interesting at the same time.

Afterwards we heard the music and dancing and all the fun the girls we're having compared to us our part sucked.

That abouts sums up my 4 hours at the Moroccan Wedding. It was weird at first and stuck out, then we made sum friends at the table, ate from 1 plate with 10 people and learned sum fun facts about moroccans.
All and all nice awkward party, but nothing compared to the women's side.

  1. Well, I guess it wasn't all fun & marrying but you also got to learn some things from a whole different culture: not too shabby for a day out :p!
